LOCATION

The Lička Plješivica mountain, Gola peak 1646m ASL – JN74UT has always been a challenge for various radio amateur expeditions. A 13 km long dirt road leads to the top, and at the very top there are the remains of a former, now abandoned military fort, from where there is a wonderful view in all directions.

The mountain stretches in a northwest-southeast direction from Plitvice Lakes to Zrmanja River in Croatia and separates Lika region from Pounje. The top of the mountain – Gola is located in the extreme northwest of the massif and is an ideal position for achieving good QSO’s on VHF&up.
