July 22, 2005:
The island of Jabuka (eng: Apple) has always been a challenge for amateur radio operators, attracting and drawing them as a magnet. Let's recall the last try by 3 Croatian hams to activate the island of Jabuka for IOCA (The Islands Of Croatia Award) program.Trying to activate Jabuka island (CI-032, MC-136, EU-016), on July 22, 2005 - Tom, 9A2AA, Luka, 9A7Z and Neno, 9A7N took off from Korcula island towards Jabuka. After 14 hours at sea and some 100 n. miles (with a stop over to spend the night on Vis isl.), they reached Jabuka island. However, due to unfavorable weather ("dead sea", calm with high amplitudes), we could read on the Cluster: action postponed. After a few hours and numerous tries to land and unload the equipment, the new announcement said: action canceled.
